Both 2nd Classes are delighted to be taking part in the SDG Superheroes programme this year in conjunction with Scala, Serve and Synergy Credit Union. They spent a whole day in Scala Blackrock in February learning all about the SDGs – Sustainable Development Goals. The programme will be running for a few weeks and the team from Scala, Serve and Synergy Credit Union will be coming to the school once a week to deliver the programme to both 2nd Classes. So far the children have learned about life in Mozambique, how important it is to plant fruit and vegetables and to look after the environment. They are looking forward to learning more over the coming weeks.

In Week 3, they completed an activity called “Bloom Where You Are Planted!” The children spoke about which SDGs they believe in the most and how they can make a difference.

In Week 4, the children learned all about The Philippines. The focus was on the two SDGs – Life on Land and Life Under Water. The children learned about the Bajou Tribe.

In Week 5, the theme was “The Difference I can Make.” The children focused on SDG number 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities. They built their own sustainable communities and had lots of fun designing them.

In our final week, we had our Graduation Ceremony and welcomed visitors from Scala and Synergy Credit Union in Fermoy. We spoke about what we had learned over the 6 weeks. The children received certificates and goodie bags after completing the programme. The children had so much fun engaging in this programme and have learned a lot about Sustainable Development Goals.
