Wake Up Shake Up!
A great start to Active Week with a Wake Up Shake Up on yard first thing this morning. Big thanks to our 6th Class Dance Leaders for showing everyone their moves and getting everyone dancing!

Big round of applause to our Dance Leaders from 6th Class who lead all the children in Wake Up Shake Up every morning this week for #ASW23

Bootcamp
Both 5th Classes had a blast doing a Boot Camp with Lindsey Quinn of the Health and Fitness Boutique, Glanmire this afternoon as part of Active Week. A big thanks to Lindsey for giving us her time!

Walkway Challenges
The children are having a great time getting out and exploring the new Active Walkway this week for Active Week. They are completing orienteering activities using the new signage and getting loads of exercise at the same time!

As part of Active Week the children have been having fun learning outside using the new Walkway Challenges. Senior classes looked for country flags while the juniors hunted for colours and patterns!

Teachers V Pupils Basketball
The tensions were high as 6th Class took on the teachers in a basketball game for #ASW23. Children from all 3 of our 6th classes fought hard against the teachers with lots of scoring, cheering and chanting! Well done to everyone who took part and made posters for the event!

Watergrasshill NS Talent Show
Our Active Flag Committee organised the first ever Talent Show in Watergrasshill NS and we held it in the hall on Wednesday afternoon during Active Week. This spectacle was truly a fun event for the whole school, where children from almost every class show cased their amazing talents. We had everything from Irish and hip hop dancing, to gymnastics, MMA, Taekwondo and basketball and soccer skills. A thoroughly enjoyable event where we had fun celebrating being active!

1st class were inspired by the school Talent Show and held their own mini Talent Show. Well done to all involved!!

Futsal
Big thanks to the FAI for sending Futsal balls to our school, just in time for Active Week. Mr Devine and his class ran a Futsal event on the astro for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes. Everyone had a great time learning new skills and working as a team, all while getting fit!

It was great to see all the children engaging with Active Homework this week as part of #ASW23. Keeping active as often as possible is so good for us…and so much fun!

ELJ Dance
A huge thanks to Miss Emma from ELJ School of Dance who treated every child in the school to a dance lesson last week as part of #ASW23. We all had great fun bopping to the music, stretching out and learning some new moves. What a great way to keep fit!

A Special Visit from Bríd Stack
There was great excitement when 11 time All Ireland Winner Bríd Stack paid a visit to our school on Friday morning. She spoke to the children about the importance of being active as much as possible and trying new sports no matter what your age.

Table Tennis Takeover
A big thanks to Table Tennis Ireland and Active Schools for sending us table tennis kits. Mrs Newman’s class hosted a Table Tennis Takeover on Friday and we had a great time using the new equipment. Children also played Box Tennis so everyone was keeping active! The children loved taking on Mr Prout!
