On a sunny Friday last the 13th May the 5th class hurlers from the school took part in the Paul O’ Connor Memorial Blitz in Gaelcholáiste Mhuire A.G. With the short snappy nature of the frantic seven-a-side format it makes it really exciting. They won all their group games and got through to the semi-final where they met Carrignavar. In one of the best games of the day they got over the line with two 2nd half goals from Sam O’ Leary and Cormac McCarthy. It set up a final with Gaelscoil Uí Ríordán who overcame Whitechurch in the other semi. The result didn’t go our way in the final but it was a fantastic day of hurling and the boys gave it everything. Sam O’ Leary was awarded the ‘Most Sporting Player’ and it was thoroughly deserved. Thanks to all parents for their support on the day and we hope this can help us build for the Sciath na Scol in the next school year. Thanks to the organisers who ran a great tournament to remember the great Paul O’ Connor.
