CAMOGIE

Sciath na Scol

Well done to all the girls who helped get the team to the semifinal for the first time in many years! They put in a massive effort on the day but, unfortunately, came up short against a very good Castlelyons team! Watergrasshill Camogie is in a good place!!

The Sciath na Scol Girls team have been busy the last number of weeks. In their 1st game they played Beaumont GNS away in Blackrock and played against a very, very good team and came out on the wrong side of the result. After this, the girls regrouped to win 2 games in 2 days, firstly against Maria Assumpta and then against Ballinadee. These victories means that the girls have qualified for the semi fianl which will be played after Easter. In preparation for this game, they played their close neighbours Glenville. It was a very competitive game in which Watergrasshill came out as victors. It was a great day for Watergrasshill camogie club with so many young hurlers from the area in opposition and augurs well for the future of the local club. What was very evident over each game was the great attitude and workrate on the field displayed by all the girls. Thanks to everyone for their commitment and to the teachers for looking after them and giving them words of encouragement and advice along the way. In years to come they will cherish those memories of playing with their friends in school. We look forward to playing the semi final in a few weeks time!

Indoor Camogie

Visit from the County Camogie Champions

On October 1st we were paid a visit by the local camogie team who won the Junior County Camogie Championship on Sunday against Ballyhea. There was huge excitement when the girls brought the cup to the school. It was great to see past pupils of Watergrasshill N.S., involved in this great team but a very special mention must go to our 1st class teacher Ms. Mulholland who starred in the back line. Well done to everyone involved. Lets hope this is the first of many cups to come to our school!!
